Hero 8-year-old saves 6 family members from fire, dies saving disabled grandfather !!

Heroes don't come any larger than this.

Eight-year-old Tyler Doohan died trying to rescue his grandfather from a burning mobile home in New York on Sunday. However, before he died, he managed to save six of his family members from the blaze.

Tyler died trying to save his disabled grandfather, whom he considered his best friend.

It all started when Tyler an East Rochester resident was staying with his relatives on Sunday night when he noticed a fire in teh single-wide trailer. After calling the police, Tyler woke up six other people in the small trailer, including two children aged 4 and 6.

However, noticing that his grandfather wasn't in the group he had saved, Tyler rushed back into the blazing trailer to rescue him.

"By that time, the fire had travelled to the back of the trailer. Unfortunately they both succumbed to heat and smoke," Penfield fire chief Chris Ebmeyer said.

Tyler was found dead beside his disabled grandfather on a bed. It appeared that he had been trying to lift up his grandfather when the smoke and heat overpowered him.

Talking to CNN affiliate WHAM, Crystal Vrooman, Tyler's mother, said "It makes me really proud, it really does, but I just want him back... All I could think about is how he couldn't breathe... I am just grateful that he went with people that he loved. He didn't go alone."
